Martin Cahill
I have been painting for around 12 years now, working mainly in Acrylics and Oil. My style of painting is fairly loose and informal and I enjoy working ‘alla prima’, endeavouring to quickly capture the interplay of light on a subject.
Painting outside is always enjoyable and after producing a paint sketch, I usually try to complete the project with a finished studio work of the relevant landscape or seascape. Still life and Interiors are also an interest and featured in a class I attended for many years with professional artist Carolyne Moran.
I admire the work of the French Impressionists particularly Paul Cezanne, The Scottish Colourists and lately Archie Forrest.
I joined B.A.S. several years ago and have found their demonstrations and workshops very helpful. I hope at some point to attain the goal of painting intuitively, but with sufficient technical skills to grow as an artist.
I have contributed and sold paintings in several exhibitions since joining the club.
