Freda Rhodes

Having been a hobby painter for years,  I obtained a visual arts degree at Nottingham University which opened my eyes to all the possibilities I could investigate. Since moving to Bournemouth in 2018, I've explored en plein air the local surroundings with Pedas, and more recently with Broadstone Art Society. Here I love Tuesday portrait painting and experimenting with different media,  experiencing how other local artists work. I'm currently mainly using oils and pastels. My interests are people,  places (especially Norwegian and Finnish where I've spent a lot of time) and my synaesthetic response to music. I aim to elicit an emotional response to my images by choosing subjects that move me.
